We are a community driven media resource dedicated to social movies: the types of movies that people don’t just want to sit through, but which they want to explore in all detail, sharing their experiences with other members. Literary adaptations like Harry Potter, Twilight, Sherlock Holmes, and The Lord of the Rings are prime stage-setters of this social movie world.
Not Just a Flashy Motto
Traditionally, studio publicists send out promotional assets for outlets to partially rehash and publish. Our aim is to provide a unique angle, and to satisfy detailed coverage requests from our community with quality original content. After all, there are enough excellent general movie websites out there already. We're an in-between kind of place, cutting the distance from you to your favorite on-screen or print media. From studios and authors to our online community without a complex agenda to interfere.
How it Works
His Dark Media is the hub of the HDM network, a group of online community websites, each with its own news, forums, multimedia galleries, and information. Individual sites are maintained by staff with a passion for their site’s specific topic. Community members only interested in news on the macro level can stick to the His Dark Media home page where information and news relating to a wide variety of social movies will be posted. Members only interested in one topic can stick with the site specific to their favorite fandom.
Membership
Whether you sign up to an individual community or to His Dark Media, your account immediately grants you access to the member functions on all of the HDM network websites. Among other things, members can post in the forums, add comments, submit content, and interact with other members via their profiles and personal messages. Membership is and will remain free.
An Example
TwilightSaga.org is our Twilight community, with news and information on the complete series of books, the Twilight Saga movies, series author Stephenie Meyer, and related topics. Users signing up to TwilightSaga.org have instant access to all His Dark Media sites and features. As our staff continues to develop the HDM network, members gain further access and ability to explore future properties.
Why We're Involved
His Dark Media sprang from HisDarkMaterials.org, the brainchild of an underdeveloped goldmine: the knowledge that modern fans are a smart and critical group with a single passion tying them together. Modern fan communities are a force to be reckoned with in the social media industry, one that demands unparalleled freedom to access the creative development of their favourite social media, not via crude paparazzi shots, but via well thought out features and events which shed new light on the journey to the screen.
HisDarkMaterials.org attracted staff members from across the world and across time zones, packing talent and drive together with efficiency, a unique perspective, and most importantly friendliness and respect, to create a website which allowed fans and interested parties to engage with the development of The Golden Compass in a whole new way. From exclusive interviews to special behind the scenes videos to red carpet coverage with a three-hour turnaround: we aim to bring that experience and positive energy to bear on the world of social movies.
