Narnia's New Dawn

As we all know, child stars are like Mars Bars. They're sweet, they satisfy their role well, but more often than not, you can only deal with a few in a year before they get a bit sickly. One of the biggest risks facing scriptwriters, producers and casting agents is who to give this kind of role to, because a child actor can easily make or break a film. As we saw in the Twilight saga's New Moon, one of our very favourite child actresses here at His Dark Media, Dakota Fanning, unfortunately isn't a little girl anymore. So it's a risk that we haven't really seen since New Line Cinema's controversial jaunt into Pullman's His Dark Materials world that 20th Century Fox and Walden Media are taking with casting a brand new personality as Gael in the new Narnia film.

But what's this I hear you say? 'Who's Gael?' Well, we're as stumped as you are. Known only as 'Mysterious Little Girl' until the back end of January, this is her first role in the big wide world of cinema. The rumour mill is working overtime with this one, but it's likely that she's the daughter of Rhince, giving him the motivation to join up with the crew of the Dawn Treader.

Lucy and Edmund also make an excited return to the world of Narnia, bringing their rather less enthusiastic cousin Eustace along for the ride with Prince Caspian from the previous film. Presumably set three years or so after the events of Prince Caspian as with the novel, the boating excursion of the Princely band had originally been to find seven lords of Narnia who had disappeared through various means at the hand of Caspian's antagonist, Miraz. The voyage brings the troupe in contact with dwarves, merpeople, and lost warriors in the book and judging from the last two in this series, the film can't be very far behind.
